Show Choir Showcase!! Iowa Comp!! Costumes!! Fundraising Funds!!
Showcase Basket FUNDRAISER!!!!
WE NEED YOUR HELP NOW!!
What a fantastic evening of music at Acropolis! It was great to see such a huge crowd supporting and celebrating the incredibly talented group of music students at East.
Now, it’s time to look ahead to our next big event: Showcase!!!
For those of you who may be new to Show Choir, Showcase is our first real look at each choir’s entire show performed in the East Auditorium. It’s also a HUGE fundraiser to help cover expenses for travel, choreographers, music arrangements and other administrative expenses not paid for through our costume fees. These expenses are behind-the-scenes, but absolutely vital to growing our exceptional family of Show Choirs.
While there are tickets and concessions to purchase at Showcase, the main way we raise funds is through a Silent Auction for differently themed baskets. In the past, we’ve had baskets geared towards cooking, football, pets, movies, pizza, grilling, games and lots of other fun activities.
But, before we can auction the baskets, we have to fill them – and that’s where you come in. While it is not mandatory, we would greatly appreciate if everyone who is able would choose to make a contribution to help fill the baskets.
Please visit this LINK to view the SignUp Genius that lists all of the basket themes and some ideas for filling each. Simply sign up for an item or two (or more) and let us know what you’re donating. You do not have to sign up to supply an entire basket (though you certainly can if you want).
In order to make it as easy as possible, we’ve also created an Amazon Wish List that includes many of the basket items. If you’d like, you can simply choose something from this list (the link is on the SignUp Genius) and have it shipped straight to the home of our basket organizer. Or you can choose something else from Amazon or any store and ship it or drop it at her house (address on SignUp Genius) – whatever works best for you 😉
During Showcase, guest will have the opportunity to view the baskets and bid on their favorites. In the past, this event has raised more than $20,000 for the Show Choirs, so you can see why we encourage everyone to participate.
So, please, take a look at the LIST and see where you might be able to help. And thanks to all of those who have already signed up. If you have any questions about Showcase, the baskets, getting items to the right place or Show Choir stuff in general, please give me a call/text/email.
Looking forward to a great season with all of you!

Linn-Mar Competition Overnight!
At the booster meeting we briefly discussed the show choir trip to Iowa in January. Students will be leaving East around noon on January 17 and traveling to Iowa City where they will be staying at the Hampton Inn- Coralville. We have reserved a block of rooms at the discounted rate for families that wish to travel and stay in the same location as the students. If you wish to reserve a room, please call 319-351-6600 and request a room that is reserved for “Lincoln East Show”. That should give you a room for the discounted rate of $79. There will be more information coming about the trip as get it closer.
We were just informed there is another large event in Iowa City Friday night so hotel rooms all over the area are going quickly. Make your reservations early!
If you have questions or problems, please contact Kathy Duhs at email@example.com.
Elevation Costume Help
Elevation’s beautiful costumes have arrived! They are designed as two full dresses, with a top layer that completely tears away. Each tearaway has snaps and beadwork that need reinforced for durability during the show choir season. There are FORTY dresses that need reinforced. We need LOTS of help from all available volunteers in all choirs! Moms, dads, grandparents…all helpers welcome! Instructions will be provided and this is NOT difficult work…amateurs are more than capable of helping. Materials will also be provided, but if you already have a needle and black thread, bring it along. Come for a full shift or stay as long as you are able. We will accept all the help we can get…many hands make light work! Thank you so much for giving your time to make sure our kids look their best on stage all season long!

If you do NOT want the fundraising amount applied to your child’s account, please email Kathy Duhs at email@example.com If she does not hear from you by Sunday night, she will assume you want the fundraising credit applied to your child’s account.
If you missed the booster meeting last week, the minutes are posted on the website at the link below. In addition, we have the presentation slides if you would be interested. LOTS of information was shared at last week’s meeting. The December booster meeting for Dec. 3 has been cancelled due to schedule conflicts.
